Off to work we go

I worked yesterday and work again tomorrow. I'm happy to get the hours, but I really dislike my job. Husband has been facing deadlines and general fuckery at work, so he's been working long hours. He pretty much despises his job. Motivation to save, save, save!

Except we've been finding ways to spend. Nothing huge, but nothing cheap either. We picked up our taxes today costing us $360 for them to be done. I really should figure out how to do them myself and I'm confident I could do it, but in this case I prefer a professional. I'm not sure that actually qualifies as finding ways to spend, but Husband ordering some airpods certainly does. These will be used for work, instead of the incredibly cheap and horrendously shitty headphones provided by his company. I had planned on getting him a pair for Christmas but he had mentioned he wanted to get the next generation which weren't available back in December.  Hopefully, they will work the way he wants them to and at least makes his endless meetings a bit more comfortable. Since he works from home, we used to be able to deduct this sort of thing off his taxes but because the tax changes this has been eliminated. Thanks Trump.

I also decided to buy a keyboard for my iPad. I would like to be able to use it to type in the kitchen and bring it with me to my mom's house instead of hauling my laptop. Because I have an on-again, off-again relationship with MMO's, particularly World of Warcraft, my laptop is heavy and a bit unwieldy. I'm sure they make lighter ones, but this was a hand-me-down from Husband and I will be using it until the bitter end. I long for a small and light laptop but just can't justify the expense. So the keyboard attachment is a fairly reasonable substitute. We also don't use the iPad as much as we used to and this should help put it back into service. I do bring it to my mom's house and use it there, so I hesitate to get rid of it, but at home it rarely gets touched these days.

We ate at Culver's today because both of us were starving and it was on the way to the tax preparer's office. We had originally planned on eating at Shake Shack as we've never been there before and it was also on on the way, but it just seemed easier to stop for food first and eat on the road. I'd actually budgeted $30 for eating out today and only ended up spending $17. Win!

I made a batch of chili today with a lot stuff that I had in the freezer. It made an enormous amount, almost overflowing the crock-pot! I'm planning putting a quart in the freezer for a future lunch or dinner. I'll be bringing a bowl with me to work tomorrow too. Heigh-ho heigh-ho!
