Day 1

It's cold and dreary here today and I'm over a week into a cold that is finally going away. Needless to say, I've had tons of time to read blogs about debt repayment and that always makes me want to catalog  my (our) own trek to zero debt.

This isn't truly Day1. We've been working on our debt for years. At one time, we had $34,000 on a HELOC and about $23,000 on a Wells Fargo Visa. As well as $29,000 for student loans and car payment. I can remember having 5k or 6k on one of my credit cards. And a mortgage. Ugh. I really wish I had  totaled it all out but I was too frightened to see that final number and it's much easier to ignore when it's all in parts rather than whole. Sigh.

Thankfully, we're both fairly frugal, had some good fortune, and did eventually pay those monsters off. However, we still have more to go. As of today we have:

$73,990 Mortgage
$12,934.92 Student loan
$11,187.14 Car note
$2100 Wells Fargo card
$2767.25 Barclay card
$383.54 Chase card

Total: $100,595.90

It could be worse, and has been!
