One Fish Two Fish
We went to a fish fry tonight at the Ukrainian Community Center tonight. It was quite fun and happily the proceeds go to Ukrainian cultural program and a Ukrainian dance ensemble rather than the catholic church. The fish was good but the varenyky were scrummy! I usually find them to be bland and tasteless but these had an onion sauce on them that added some zip. It was nice to get out after being cooped up for so long.
We fell off the no spending wagon today and ordered pizza for lunch. I don't think we've ever done that before but I was dying for a piece of Afghani pizza and Husband was easy to convince. We also had burger at Five Guys yesterday and are planning on going to a fancy restaurant Sunday before seeing As You Like It. And let's not forget about tonight's fish fry. Yikes! Not only are spending our food money foolishly, we've been eating an entirely too much meat!
On the bright side, I worked last night and work again tomorrow. These are short shifts, but I'll take what I can get. I'm just happy I don't have to be there early.
I had problems falling asleep again last night and when I did I had nightmares. I had another nightmare today when I took a nap. Ugh. I kind of envy those who say they never remember their dreams. But then again, the nightmares don't really scare me and often I'm aware I'm having them. Besides dreaming can be really fun sometimes. When else am I going to have a house with a thousand secret rooms or take never ending road trips???
Husband got paid today and I sent out the bills like I always do on the 15th. I had completely emptied the account so we start he next two weeks with exactly this paycheck. Generally, there's a little bit leftover from his previous paycheck but not this time. Lest anyone think I was a fool with the money, here's a breakdown of how I cleared it out:
Exciting stuff! Well, it is to me! Although I'm sure there are many out there who would have splurged and thought nothing of it.
We also dropped our taxes off yesterday, hence the fancy burger for lunch. We'll be getting about $1,500 back, all of which will go into savings to make up for some of the $3,000 we have to transfer to our HSA. If we don't max out that account we lose out on about $800 and would owe the state $75. Doesn't seem worth losing out on the money especially when all we're doing is moving money. I also like the idea of having a large HSA in case something happens. And something will happen, it's unavoidable.
