Cloudy with the chance of Meatballs
This post has nothing to do with the delightful children's book, but it is cloudy and there are meatballs. Winter is not that far behind us and it's that dreary sort of spring day that demands comfort food. These will not be vegetarian meatballs. I stayed up far too late last night on Budget Bytes trying to get some ideas of what to make for the upcoming weekend and decided to be a bit decadent and make meatballs. I used the rest of the marinara sauce that I made a few weeks ago and thawed out a baguette I'd bought around the same time. We have some salad greens and a few of the cut veggies from Tuesday that need to be eaten.
Aaaaaand it was a lovely meal. We are stuffed. I will definitely be making that again. It would make an impressive company meal and I'll kept it in mind for the next time we're cooking for the in-laws.
I cleaned most of the day and have been plugging away at laundry. Once again it's getting a bit nuts and I've resorted to using the dryer. I've hung a few things up but I'm dire need of clothes and it just takes too long to do clothes in quantity this way. It's supposed to be nice this weekend, so I'm going to try to at least get the quilts on the line before I get to work. I'd love to be home this weekend to throw open the windows and scrub everything down, but I need the hours.
I washed a bunch of ziploc bags that had accumulated over the week. It's not a favorite chore. I do whatever I can to NOT use plastic bags but they're just so dang handy for freezing things. I limit them to veggies, fruit, bread, and that sort of thing, yet they still collect fairly quickly. I can't bring myself to throw them out unless they're leaking terribly or contained raw meats. I also reuse bread bags to help cut down on ziploc bag use, but sometimes you just need something that will seal shut. So I wash them. Doubtful this has saved us a ton of money, but it certainly has helped. And more important, kept that crap out the landfill.
